Current Research

My work focusses on how and why individuals differ in their cognitive abilities. The aim of this research is to help broaden our understanding between cognitive adaptations and the evolution of general intelligence. Are there, for instance, ecological or life history traits that predict differences in problem solving abilities and point to selection pressures that shape cognition? I am broadly interested in applying interdisciplinary techniques from the fields of ethology and experimental psychology to the study of animal cognition.
